The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly motivated Site Agent to join a major civil engineering and earthworks project in Hampshire. Reporting to the Project Manager and Contract Manager, the successful candidate will thrive in an environment that values self-motivation and practical problem-solving. Key Responsibilities:
Implement and adhere to company procedures on quality, health & safety, and environmental standards on-site.
Prepare quality, environmental, and H&S construction plans promptly.
Plan, measure, monitor, and review contract progress, ensuring adherence to budgets and schedules.
Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to ensure accurate construction as per client requirements.
Timely procurement and payment of suppliers and subcontractors, monitoring their performance throughout the project.
Submit weekly progress reports for review by the Project Manager or Contract Manager.
Identify potential problem areas and financial impacts, ensuring provisions are made within forecast accounts.
Provide accurate information to Works Management and Foremen for timely construction.
Liaise with the site manager and foreman to determine engineering needs and conduct daily briefings.
Resolve contractual issues with clients and suppliers while maintaining good relationships.
Mentor and guide junior team members to develop their construction competencies.
Ensure timely submission of necessary documentation for the project health and safety file.
What We Are Looking For:
Degree or HND in Civil Engineering.
Demonstrable experience as a Site Agent in the civil engineering construction industry, preferably on large earthworks projects.
Understanding and experience with NEC4 Contracts.
Strong computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Good commercial awareness with effective influencing and negotiating skills.
Experience managing and mentoring engineers.
Excellent knowledge of current civil engineering, health & safety, and environmental legislation.
Strong professional communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret technical instructions and handle various abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, adaptable to different circumstances.
Full UK Driving Licence.
